Watermark a hundred proofs at once — and what a watermark can't do

2026-09-21

You are about to send out work that isn't paid for yet — client proofs, stock previews, product shots a reseller asked for "just to evaluate". A watermark is the standard move, and doing it one image at a time in an editor is the standard waste of an afternoon.

One pass over the whole set

Our watermark tool stamps the same text across every image you drop in — a name, a brand, a handle. You pick the position (corners or centre), the size relative to each image, the opacity, and white or black text; a subtle shadow keeps white text readable on light photos and black on dark ones. A hundred images take one configuration, not a hundred.

Two placement rules of thumb: centre for genuine proofs — a corner mark is one crop away from gone; a corner for attribution on images you actually want shared. Size and opacity are a taste-versus-protection dial: big and bold protects, small and faint decorates.

What a watermark honestly protects

A text watermark deters casual reuse and keeps attribution attached as an image travels. It does not stop a determined person — content-aware tools can erase marks, especially small corner ones — and it is not a legal mechanism by itself. Think of it as a lock on a garden gate: it keeps honest people honest and makes intent unmistakable.

The order matters — and it's handled

If you are also resizing, the watermark must go on after the resize: stamp first and shrink later, and the text blurs with everything else. In our batch edit tool, where several operations run together, the watermark is applied after resizing for exactly this reason — you don't have to sequence it yourself.

What we deliberately don't do

No logo/image watermarks and no tiled all-over patterns — text only. Tiling is where "protected preview" turns into "unreadable image", and image marks bring sizing and transparency headaches that text sidesteps. The tool covers the case that actually recurs: a clear name on a batch, in one pass, in your browser, uploaded nowhere.

The short version

No sign-up, nothing uploaded — it runs in this tab.
